Message from the Department Head
Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, a distinguished institution known for its excellence in research and education in Electrical and Computer Engineering in Canada's Atlantic Region. Our primary goal is to empower creators and innovators with the principles and skills of electrical and computer engineering, enabling them to make an impact in the world.
As an accredited Engineering program in Canada, we are committed to providing world-class educational and research programs. Our department focuses on two key objectives: delivering a modern science and technology curriculum that aligns with the needs of industry, government, and the environment, and addressing problems that hold significance for the community and society.
We place great emphasis on our students' progress throughout their academic journey, ensuring a cohesive program that incorporates innovative materials and meets industry standards. We actively support various student-led projects, including the autonomous sailboat and CubeSat initiatives. We actively collaborate with the IEEE's Atlantic Chapter to organize networking events, enabling our students to stay updated on the latest advancements in the field. We provide students with the opportunity to engage with industry through our comprehensive services, such as the co-op program and senior year capstone projects.
Through our research efforts, we foster collaborations with industry partners and other departments at Dalhousie, providing our undergraduate and graduate students with a meaningful education that aligns with their career ambitions. Supported by a Canada Research Chair and a Sexton Campus Chair in ocean sensing and bolstered by funding programs from the Government of Canada, we have established strong international collaborations with renowned universities worldwide. Our research expertise spans six crucial fields: ocean technology, communication and sensing technology, computer engineering, biomedical engineering, microelectronics, and power & energy systems.
For more information, I encourage you to explore our website. You will find detailed information about our undergraduate and graduate curricula, as well as insights into our research activities and how we support our students.
