In Canada, there is a longstanding public policy commitment to avoiding commodification of the human body. In particular, this is true for surrogates, egg and sperm donors;Ìýblood and blood components; milk; and organs (for example, kidneys for sale). Recent developments, however, have put each of these three areas under stress.
