ϳԹLaw alumElizabeth May, MP is a Canadian politician, environmentalist, author, activist, and lawyer who is serving as a co-leader of the Green Party of Canada. She will reflect on the 2023 SCC decision in the Reference re Impact Assessment Actand anticipated legislative amendments; Bill C-226, an act to develop a national strategy on environmental racism and justice; and developments in the area of climate law from COP28.
A wide-ranging Q and A session will follow, joined by co-leader of the Green Party of Canada, Jonathan Pedneault, who has worked to report on crises throughout the world and advocate for greater accountability and global social justice for over fifteen years. Through his international work, Jonathan has witnessed the urgency of climate impacts, reporting from places affected by extreme weather events and often intertwined human rights crises.
