COLLEGE OF PHARMACY DIRECTOR APPOINTED FOR JULY 1, 2024
Dr. Kyle Wilby has accepted the position of Director, College of Pharmacy/Assistant Dean, Faculty of Health, for a term commencing from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2029.
Dr. Kyle Wilby is an Associate Professor (with promotion to Full Professor effective July 1, 2024) and Associate Director of Program Evaluation at the College of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. He received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008, an Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Residency Certificate from Vancouver Coastal Health in 2009, A post-graduate Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia in 2012, and a PhD in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University in 2019. His professional experience includes working as a pharmacist in both community and hospital sectors in Canada and Qatar and served as the Coordinator of a non-governmental development organization in Ghana from 2009 to 2010. His academic career began at Qatar University in 2012 where he served as Coordinator of Assessment and Accreditation and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs until 2018. He relocated to the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2018 and served as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs until 2021, when he relocated back to Canada and to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. Â
Dr. Wilby leads a health equity-focused research program with current funding totalling over 2.5 million dollars. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and is the Associate Editor for the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. Since arriving at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøin 2021, Dr. Wilby has presented over 50 times at professional or research conferences, including keynote addresses at the Canadian Pharmacy Education and Research Conference in 2022 and the 12th Annual Nova Scotia Health Pharmacy Research and Education Conference. Dr. Wilby was recently a consultant for the Australian Pharmacy Council and the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand on accreditation and education quality initiatives and is a current member of the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs’ Evaluation Committee and Vice-Chair of the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada Research Committee. Â
