Program Description

A BScN degree is a three-year professional program, which prepares students to become registered nurses (RNs). For applicants who have previous university experience, we offer a Semester 3 Entry option to complete the degree.

An educational foundation


At the School of Nursing, we prepare future nurses to serve with skill,Ìý±è°ù´Ç´Ú±ð²õ²õ¾±´Ç²Ô²¹±ô¾±²õ³¾Ìý²¹²Ô»åÌýcompassion in a wide range of health care settings.

°Õ³ó±ðÌýfoundation of that preparation is our three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree program. The program prepares students to become Registered NursesÌý(¸é±·²õ).

Students can earn their degree at our Halifax ²¹²Ô»åÌýYarmouth, Nova Scotia locations. Residents of Nunavut can enroll in our BScN (Arctic Nursing) program, offered in collaboration with Nunavut Arctic College.

Dalhousie’s School of Nursing also offers students with previous university experience the option of completing the BScN program in two years.

Dal SON offers Certificate Options for the BScN Program. Currently, there are five approved Nursing Certificates: Oncology, Public Health, Mental Health and Addictions Nursing,ÌýPerinatal and Paediatric Nursing, and Acute/Critical Care Nursing. The certificate will enable students to explore an area of nursing more in-depth than the generalist level and is responsive to service sector demands in various targeted areas of nursing practice.
