Biography:
Prof. Dam-Mazzi was born and raised in Peru; she has traveled extensively and experienced first-hand the challenges inherent to the resettlement process.  Her work with the Canadian Centre for Diversity has given her a unique perspective from which to offer her students a greater appreciation for cultural diversity, welcoming communities and the Spanish language.

She teaches first and second-year Spanish (SPAN 1020, 2020) and Hispanic Identities through Film, and participates in development for those courses. She is also the coordinator of the study abroad Cusco Program in Peru.

She is a board member of the Kuska Canada-Peru NGO, President of Latispánica Cultural Association in Halifax, a member of the and a supporter of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Immigrant Women Organization. Her interests include the study of cultural identities and welcoming communities, Latin American cinema, Latin American literature and sports.
