About the Journal
Founded in 1921, The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøReview is one of the oldest and most prestigious literary journals in Atlantic Canada. During the early years it featured scholarly essays by notable political thinkers, historians, and literary scholars, including Archibald MacMechan, Sir Robert Borden, Eliza Ritchie, E. J. Pratt, Douglas Bush, Charles G. D. Roberts, Frederick Philip Grove, Hugh MacLennan, Hilda Neatby, Eugene Forsey, Thomas Raddall, and Earle Birney. In the latter half of the twentieth century it also featured short fiction and poetry by notable authors, including Norman Ward, George Woodcock, Mavor Moore, Owen Barfield, Miriam Waddington, Alden Nowlan, Malcolm Lowry, Chinua Achebe, Nadine Gordimer, Margaret Atwood, and Guy Vanderhaeghe. Over the course of the past century, The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøReview has thus developed an international reputation for publishing consistently high-quality work by established and emerging writers in Canada and around the world.
Subscriptions
Within Canada institutional subscriptions are $45 for one year or $100 for three years and individual subscriptions are $25 for one year or $60 for three years. Outside Canada institutional subscriptions are $50 for one year or $120 for three years and individual subscriptions are $30 for one year or $75 for three years. Submissions
TDR invites submissions of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and reviews
- POETRY: Poetry submissions may consist of up to five poems on any subject and in any style.
- FICTION: Fiction submissions may be up to 8,000 words in length, and no submission may consist of more than one story.
- NON-FICTION: Non-fiction submissions may be up to 4,000 words in length, and no submission may consist of more than one essay.
- REVIEWS: Reviews may be up to 1,000 words in length, but please contact the Review Editor at Dalhousie.Review@dal.ca for guidelines before submitting unsolicited reviews. Publishers may also submit copies of new titles on the understanding that no review is guaranteed.
All submissions should be saved in a single file (.doc or .pdf format) and sent to the Production Manager at Dalhousie.Review@dal.ca. The file should include a cover letter that contains contact information (name, mailing address, and email address) and a short biographical note. All submissions should be previously unpublished, and simultaneous submissions are strongly discouraged. Response times may vary depending on the volume of submissions, so please allow up to six months for poetry and nine months for fiction and non-fiction. Contributors receive two complimentary copies of the issue in which their work appears.
