Nova Scotia's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) Act came into force in 1994. In 1999, the Act was extended to cover local public bodies including universities.

Under FOIPOP, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is obliged to adopt a policy of accountability, openness and transparency and to provide a right of access to information with limited exceptions. The university is likewise obliged to ensure the protection of individuals' personal privacy.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøis committed to making every reasonable effort to assist persons seeking information concerning the university and to help them with FOIPOP applications and to respond without delay in an open, accurate and complete manner.
