Dr. Jennifer Bain
Dr. Jennifer Bain has been an active leader at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø for over two decades, working to strengthen the university's academic and research landscape. In her most recent role as associate vice-president research, Dr. Bain spearheaded key initiatives to advance Dalhousie's research enterprise, including the launch of the university-wide Core Facilities program, enhancing access to cutting-edge resources, and the establishment of a research security unit to address emerging challenges in the global research environment.
Dr. Bain's leadership has been instrumental in shaping Dalhousie's academic and organizational evolution. During her tenure as chair of the Department of Music (2011–2014), she successfully guided the merger of the Departments of Music and Theatre to establish the Fountain School of Performing Arts, creating a dynamic hub for artistic excellence. She also served as associate dean of research for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), chair of the Academic Development Committee for FASS, and associate director of Graduate Studies and Research in the Fountain School of Performing Arts.
As vice-president research and innovation (interim), Dr. Bain continues to champion research excellence and innovation, fostering collaboration across disciplines to address societal challenges and advance knowledge creation.
