Today's meeting is with Darnelda Renzelli, Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Dean of Libraries of the Killam Library.
What’s your favourite thing about work at Dal?
Working at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has been a lifetime experience for me. I have great colleagues and have made a lot of friendships throughout my 28 years of working at the Killam Library. The students are big part of the university, and I enjoy seeing the walking around now that they are back on campus.
What is the one daily habit you’ve adopted that you feel has benefitted you in our work?
The one daily habit that I do each day that benefits me at work is exercise and eating properly. Having a daily routine has helped me mentally and physically. I am up at 4 a.m. each morning, and I do a 30-minute workout on the elliptical/treadmill. This is my time to meditate and relax before I go to work.Ìý I know a lot of people think I am crazy to get up at 4 a.m., but I find that doing these workouts keeps me on track and helps me have a productive day when I get to work.
When you’re feeling tired out, what is your go-to strategy for regaining balance?
When I feel tired out, my go-to strategy I would say is spending time with my family and my two dogs. I have a labradoodle who is three-years old, and a Shit zhu who is two-years old. They are both very energetic and when I do not have any energy to do anything, those dogs will definitely get me up and give me energy and then the next thing you know I am outside taking them for a walk.Ìý They help me when I am tired and I enjoy being with them and being rejuvenated.
