Rate of Pay: $4,394

Work Assignment: The teaching assistant will assist with SCIE 4701/4702, Science & Technology Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship

Job Description: Teaching assistant for SCIE 4701/4702. This is a full year capstone course providing an introduction to the processes and mindsets around innovation and commercialization of science and technology, including entrepreneurship. Experiential learning format; teams work to develop and pitch
a viable business model for a scientific solution to a real-world problem. Complemented by lectures, case studies, and guest presentations. TAs will provide support to the instructor, including attending class, providing oral and written feedback to students, and meeting with student teams outside of class time.

Responsibilities include: Completing assigned readings, preparing materials for class, attending and coming prepared to each week’s class, providing organizational support for teams, preparing A/V
equipment for class, providing feedback to groups during presentations, participating in class discussions, and meeting with teams outside of class time on a weekly basis (30 min per team) to provide mentorship and advising, marking class presentations. Classes are held Thursday 11:35-2:25.

Requirements of position: Past experience in entrepreneurship and innovation an asset. Should have excellent oral and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to mentor groups of students. Good
English speaking and writing skills are required. Should be prepared to learn new material and skills.
