Position: ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Communications Intern

Classification:ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Casual Position, 1 year maximum

Salary:ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý $25 per hour, 15 hours per week (extra hours during peak times may be required)

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Ìý

This individual is responsible for providing strategic support for sustainability communication, education, engagement, outreach, community partnerships, marketing/recruitment strategies for the College of Sustainability. This position will use various communications media platforms to inform, educate and engage a broad range of on-campus and off-campus stakeholders about Dalhousie's sustainability initiatives (including research, operations and academics).

This position will provide support and work closely with the Manager of Outreach and Partnerships, Program Manager, and Manager, Finance and Administration (F&A).

Direct supervision is given by Manager F&A.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ìý

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Create content for the College's existing communication channels (College website, College e-newsletter, Brightspace etc.), social media accounts (Instagram, FaceBook, Twitter etc.) and the Sustainability@Dal web portal;

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Draft stories and profiles highlighting College faculty, students, and alumni;

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Create promotional material for College events;

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Maintain inventory of College print, video and photographic archives and publicity templates (posters, newsletters, etc.);

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Liaise with other ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøunits (Office of Sustainability, DSUSO, student societies, research services etc.) and off-campus community groups and organizations involved in sustainability;

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Assist in the continued development of an alumni engagement strategy and maintain the College alumni and community partnership databases;

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Develop metrics to track the reach and impact of various College communication campaigns, education and engagement initiatives.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Assist in development and publicity of outreach initiatives to increase public awareness

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Create procedural document for Communication Assistant position.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

Graduate of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's Environment, Sustainability and Society (ESS) program preferred. High-level written and verbal communication skills essential. Candidate should possess impeccable interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism. Time management and flexibility are of the utmost importance and self-direction and independence are required to flourish in this role. An understanding of Brightspace is necessary. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel etc.) AEM Content Management and graphic design (Canva, Adobe etc.) essential. Proficiency required with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
