Pay Rate:Ìý In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement
Work Assignment:ÌýÌý The Part-time Academic will teach CHMA 0050: Preparatory Chemistry as an online offering.Ìý This online course will take place from July 4th – August 30, 2019.Ìý The Part-time Academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including: instruction and facilitation, online lab components, and test preparation and evaluation.
Prior to course delivery the Part-Time Academic will also be responsible for ensuring the course, with the exception of the labs, are entirely online. This involves content, assessments, evaluations, and course settings. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.
Requirements:Ìý M.Sc. with experience teaching pre-university or lower-division Chemistry, PhD preferred. At least one year experience of teaching in a postsecondary educational institution. Experience in an online teaching environment in Brightspace, and demonstrated fluency with educational technologies. Willingness to work in an accelerated learning format and to work online with students on a daily basis.Ìý Have access to a personal computer and broadband internet services.Ìý ÌýAble to instruct and facilitate a meaningful learning experience of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the online learning environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
