TEACHING ASSISTANT: ENVS-SUST3502 Environmental Problem Solving II - Campus as a Living Lab

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Teaching Assistant (also termed Teaching Mentor in the context of this course) will be responsible for assisting the Primary Instructor with ENVS-SUST 3502 Environmental Problem Solving II, Campus as a Living Laboratory. In this course, students form groups and identify campus focused sustainability-related research topics to complete during the term, culminating in a final research report and Pecha Kucha presentation. Primary duties of the Teaching Mentor include attending weekly tutorials, meeting with assigned student groups to support research project development and completion, marking student assessments, and meeting regularly with the Instructor and the rest of the teaching team to align grading and discuss student progress. Teaching Mentors report directly to the instructor and work in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability.
REQUIREMENTS: The Teaching Mentor must be a graduate student at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, and possess a background in environmental science or studies or sustainability. They must be reliable, energetic, and committed to supporting student research projects centered around campus sustainability. A scholarly background in quantitative and/or qualitative and/or mixed methods, and independent experience in conducting research is necessary. Attendance at tutorials on Wednesdays between 10:05 – 11:25am during the Winter 2019 term (Jan-April) is required as well as availability for meetings with the teaching team and Sustainability Office to be scheduled at the start of the term.
