Employment Opportunity: Registrar’s Office – Assistant Registrar – Student Recruitment

The Registrar’s Office of the University of King’s College is responsible for enrolment services, from the successful recruitment of potential students to the engaged support and retention of our current students. Toward this aim, the office is looking for a person to lead student recruitment efforts.

The Assistant Registrar – Student Recruitment is responsible for coordination, execution, and analysis of student recruitment initiatives of the university, consistent with the strategic recruitment plan of the university.

Specific Duties/Accountabilities

The Assistant Registrar-Student Recruitment is responsible for the following:

• Consults with the community, in consultation with the Registrar, on the annual development of a strategic recruitment plan which defines tactical recruitment efforts and metrics assess these efforts and their effectiveness

• Coordinates the recruitment programs, the purpose of which is to build relationships with prospective students and those who support them such as parents, high school counselors, principals, and teachers.

• Coordinates the participation of senior administration, faculty, students and alumni in the strategic recruitment plan

• Liaises with the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøAssociate Director – Recruitment on training and recruitment activity in conjunction with Dalhousie. Trains ºÚÁϳԹÏÍørecruiters on King’s Academic programmes, student services, and campus life.

• Works cohesively with the team in the Registrar’s Office on communication plans and events as Open Houses, campus tours, and other on-campus events.

• Prepares and analyzes regular and annual activity reports on recruitment efforts outlining effectiveness as well as recommendations.

• Monitors effectiveness of tactical recruitment efforts by comparing enrolment numbers to the metrics defined in the strategic recruitment plan.

• Screens candidates, trains, supervises, and supports all recruiters.

• Carries out direct outreach: meeting with and presenting to prospective students and influencers, attending fairs and other events, initiating contact records for individual inquirers, and providing on-on-one follow up with individual students.

• Submits expense reports with receipts of all activity in accordance with university policy.

• Provides support to fellow members of the Registrar’s Office as needed.

• Supports the admissions process by staying up to date on admission policies and procedures in public education and by alerting the Assistant Registrar-Admissions of any such changes or developments

• Enters admission data (inquiries, applications, and other information), filing, application processing, and admission decisions.

The successful candidate will need:

• an undergraduate or graduate degree or equivalent experience. Masters degree would be an asset. Preference will be given to King’s alumni or candidates who posses an academic background in the humanities, journalism or an interdisciplinary field.

• Three to five years of administrative experience, preferably in a university environment

• Superb verbal and written communications skills

• Ability to deal with students needs and interests with empathy, an aptitude for dealing with the public, senior university officers and faculty, tact and discretion for handling sensitive, confidential and personal information

• proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver content in a timely manner;

• outstanding organizational ability;

• proven ability to collaborate with others and an understanding of inter-office responsibilities;

• A valid driver’s license is required. Incumbent must be willing to travel. This position will include evening and weekend work and expected to work overtime as necessary.

Salary Range: $43,383 to $50,046 (including group benefits)
