Due to capital construction and other initiatives aligned with the university’s , there continue to be several parking changes on Dalhousie’s Halifax campus this year.
Here are a few reminders:
Rosina Lot - ϳԹrecently acquired the Rosina lot on Queen Street behind the Halifax Central Library adding 200 general permit parking spaces available for use by any ϳԹgeneral parking permit holder from all campuses.
LeMarchant Place: This lot on South Street is being expanded to accommodate some of the spaces lost in other lots. There are currently 22 parking spots open as general parking. Once the lot is complete in mid to late November, it will open as a “pay and display” parking zone, addressing rising short-term parking needs on campus. The aim of the LeMarchant Place lot is to have the vast majority of short term parking in a concentrated area, easily accessible, which will allow some of the other metered areas on campus to become general permit parking.
Hancock: New lines were recently painted on the Hancock lot on the corner of Oxford and Cobourg. New waste compactors will be located there as part of the university’s commitment to sustainability. This has resulted in the loss of approximately 13 general permit parking spaces.
Dalplex: Construction of the much-anticipated new Fitness Centre is underway on South Street removing approximately 75 general permit parking spaces and 12 metered spaces.
Meters: The cost of parking per hour increased from $1.50 to $2 before the semester began. Due to a contractor oversight the meters were only correctly labelled last week to reflect the change.
There are no expected changes to parking on the Carleton or Agricultural campuses.
