Black Nova Scotian women's experiences with mental illness – Dr. Ingrid Waldron is currently conducting a one-year study is to gain insights from Black women in Halifax about the mental health issues they are struggling with, including how their mental health and well-being have been impacted by experiences related to race, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, income, immigrant status, disability, and age; their beliefs about mental illness and help-seeking; how they seek help for and cope with mental health problems; and their perspectives on how a newÌýmental health service for Black women can effectively address their mental health needs and priorities.
