(Halifax, N.S.) - ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø presents our MUSCLE MLK Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 23, 2020.

Lorena Heubach and Isabel Sarty are this week’s co-MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week winners.

Lorena Heubach, Track & Field

Third-year track and field athlete Lorena Heubach is this week’s co-MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.

Lorena led the Tigers to their 31st straight AUS championship title.

She won four gold medals over the two-day event, winning the high jump, long jump, 60m hurdles and the 4x200m relay.

Lorena set a new Dalhousie, AUS championship and Nova Scotia record in the long jump with a leap of 5.97m. The previous record of 5.70m was set by Dalhousie’s Chantelle Robbertse in 2016. She also set a second AUS championship record as a member of the 4x200m relay team.

At the end of the meet, she was named the 2020 Subway AUS Athlete of the Meet and earned the title of 2020 AUS Female Field Athlete of the Year.

An engineering student, Lorena is from Granville Beach, N.S.

Isabel Sarty, Swimming

Third-year swimmer Isabel Sarty is this week’s co-MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.

Isabel had her best national performance to date at the 2020 U SPORTS Swimming Championships over the weekend, scoring a total of 92 points.

She earned a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle race and swam to fourth-place finishes in both the 100m and 200m freestyle events. She swam all three events in lifetime-best times and broke the Nova Scotia Senior long course record in the 200m freestyle previously set by former Tiger and Olympian Nancy Garapick in 1978.

Isabel also had a strong showing in the 400m freestyle event, placing fourth in the B final for a 13th place overall finish. She also led all three Tigers relays, highlighted by an eighth-place finish in the 4x100m freestyle relay.

A neuroscience major, Isabel is from Halifax, N.S.

Hudson Grimshaw-Surette, Track & Field

Third-year runner Hudson Grimshaw-Surette is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.

Hudson led the Tigers to their 18th AUS conference championship title in 19 years over the weekend.

He took home four gold medals at the AUS championships, finishing first in the 600m, 1000m and as a member of the 4x400m and 4x800 relay teams.

He set a new AUS championship record in the 1000m event, crossing the line in 1:30.47, topping the time of 2:28.78 set by StFX's John Corbit in 2010.

Hudson was named the 2020 AUS Male Track Athlete of the Year at the end of the meet.

A native of Yarmouth, N.S., Hudson is a kinesiology major.
