In what is quickly becoming an annual tradition, readers of The Coast, Halifax’s weekly, have named ϳԹthe city’s best university.
In fact, ϳԹhas won the award every year in the publication’s readers’ choice awards since the Best University category was revived in 2012. (ϳԹalso won the award the first time it was included in 2005.)
More than 12,000 people voted in The Coast's annual readers’ roll, which includes more than 300 different categories spanning food and drink, arts and culture, and city life. ϳԹwas awarded gold in the “Best University” category — a result that speaks to Dal’s broad reach and significant impact across Halifax and beyond.
There were several other Dal successes in The Coast’s readers’ choice awards this year:
- The Student Union Building’s popular “Pete’s ToGoGo” outlet took home the gold prize for “Best Campus Eats.” And levied student society the Loaded Ladle, which serves free, locally produced meals out of the SUB three times a week, won bronze.
- The T-Room, the Dal Student Union’s Sexton Campus pub, once again placed in the “Best Trivia Night” category for its popular Friday night showdowns, winning bronze.
- For “Best Effort to Improve Halifax,” the gold prize went to “bike lanes,” with the University Avenue pilot project getting special mention.
