The next Pension Town Hall will be held on Tuesday, May 17th. We are holding further town hall meetings because of the feedback we have received in the previous ones, through Dal News stories and our pensions@dal.ca e-mail, and due to the recent news that ϳԹhas received two years of solvency relief (read Dal News article: Solvency relief for pension plan). Three sessions will be held in May.
A number of themes have come out of the feedback we have received including:
- Concerns that employees will incur the cost of the pension deficit
- Increase in employee contributions
- Investments and improvements in the markets
- Now that we have solvency relief do we still need to reform the governance?
- What expertise do we need to jointly govern a pension plan?
- Impacts on current pension plan for pensioners
The town halls will be held on the following dates/times:
- Tuesday, May 17th, 2 – 3 p.m.
Tupper Building, Theatre-C, Carleton campus - Thursday, May 19, 5 – 6 p.m.
A.L. MacDonald Building, Room D416, Sexton campus - Tuesday, May 31, 10 – 11 a.m.
Killam Library, MacMechan Auditorium, Studley campus
