You’d turn over your canned goods too if a giant needle came to your door.
Hundreds of costumed ϳԹstudents—including one dressed as the H1N1 vaccine—turned out for this year’s Trick or Eat food drive on Halloween night. In total, 262 students collected more than 4,500 food items for Feed Nova Scotia.
“We filled up every cart we had and then some,” said Michelle Honsberger, a student organizer with Meal Exchange. Many student societies and sororities took part. “The turnout was amazing. A one point, the students were lining up in the Rowe, out the building and around the corner.”
Residents were alerted to the food drive through door hangers distributed throughout south-end Halifax and they had their donations ready.
“We ran into a few grumps, but for the most part, the neighbours were really, really positive,” she added.
