The Circle K Society has put ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøon the leaderboard.

As of now, the Kiwanis-affiliated student society has raised more than $6,000, which puts Dal in third place among universities in Canada, behind Simon Fraser University and Brock University.

"We had an amazing fundraising week last week," says Michael Kennedy, president of Circle K. "On Wednesday, we raised over $2,600 in donations and pledges through our Jail and Bail event, and then an additional $3,258.00 from the Arts Society and Science Society, who donated money and organized a trivia night at the Grawood."

All the money raised goes to the purchase of bed nets for children in Africa. Sleeping under an insecticide-treated bed net has been shown to reduce malaria transmission by at least 50 per cent and the mortality of children under five by up to 25 per cent.

Last year, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøstudents won the Spread the Net Student Challenge by raising more than $19,000. Winning the challenge netted the students a visit by Rick Mercer and his show The Mercer Report.ÌýÌý
