On Wednesday, Feb. 15, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøwill streamline the way events are communicated to the university community. On that day, a new, effective events calendar is being introduced.
The new calendar is searchable by date or type of event and will replace the old calendar (as of Feb. 15). The new version will be a vast improvement on the old events calendar. To find it, follow the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøNews and Events link on the homepage and click on "Events."
An interesting feature of Dalhousie's new events calendar is My.Calendar, available on My.Dal. Users of My.Calendar can select the types of events that interest them and those events will electronically download from the events calendar into My.Calendar.
Authorized users will be able to post events. Each faculty/department/unit should have at least two authorized users. To become an authorized user, approval from your Dean's Office, Unit Director, or the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøStudent Union is required. The name and contact information, including net id of each authorized user needs to be sent to Communications and Marketing at communications.marketing@dal.ca.
"It is hoped that all faculties, departments, and units will post their events to Dalhousie's new events calendar to create greater awareness of what is going on at Dal, and hopefully an increase in awareness will lead to increased participation and attendance at events," says Kim Thompson, Coordinator of Special Projects.
"Students have been asking for more and better information about what is going on at Dal; this new events calendar will respond to that," she said, adding that it will be much easier to find the events listing from the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøwebsite with just a click on ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøNews and Events.
Important reminder: Information posted on the old events calendar cannot be automatically transferred to the new calendar. Any events occurring on or following Feb. 15, 2006 will need to be re-posted. Don't forget to send any interesting story ideas to Dalhousie.News@dal.ca
