Supporting community development benefits everyone.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøfaculty, staff and students have once again joined together to support our annual ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøUnited Way Campaign. Led by campaign co-chairs, Christine Moore and Barb Mealiea, the university's goal of $180,000 for 2004/05 has been surpassed!

The campaign organization enthusiastically pulled together the various units and faculties across our three campuses. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøgot involved in special events such as the United Way Challenge and sent volunteers for the annual Day of Caring. Bake sales, 50/50 raffles and a host of other activities have ensured that we have once again surpassed our ambitious goal.

"I'm delighted to announce that our total for the 2004/05 campaign is $180,076," says campaign co-chair, Christine Moore. "Thank you to all who volunteered your time and efforts to this campaign, and to the tremendous financial support of our colleagues here in the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøcommunity."

Recognizing the impact we have on our community, Dalhousie's effort ranked third among the overall top 10 campaigns, second among top 10 public sector campaigns and had the third highest number of leadership donors, 45, those who pledge $1,000 or greater. The success of this year's campaign is a testimonial to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøcommunity and their dedication to the Halifax community, who continue to give year after year. Why? Because we live here.

Our contribution helped to raise the record amount of $5,272,000 for the United Way of Halifax for the 2004/05 campaign. All funds will be directed to improving our metro Halifax community.

The United Way recognizes the assets of people and organizations in our community and serves to support the programs and organizations which make our community a better place to live, work and raise our families.

United Way lives in our community in all of us and provides funding for more than 130 agency programs.
