Leslie McLean

Leslie McLean completed her BScN from McMaster University, following an earlier degree in Arts from Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB. Her graduate degree in nursing (MScN) was obtained from 黑料吃瓜网in 2002 with a focus on clinical ethics. 聽Ms. McLean鈥檚 CV lists a number of post graduate professional development and certification achievements, including facilitation, quality improvement, leadership, board governance, project management and capacity building training.聽 She has served on a large number of local and national professional committees and boards as both an active member and chair.

Ms. McLean鈥檚 early clinical practice first took place in long-term care in Norway followed by a focus on patients with haematology/oncology diagnoses in both Ontario and Nova Scotia. Later her career took her to progressive leadership roles as a team leader, educator, project lead, and advanced practice nurse. 聽She has taught in the highly successful Inter-professional Psychosocial Oncology Distance Education (IPODE) program which registers students from across the country. In addition, she has long held an adjunct appointment with the School of Nursing where she has contributed to graduate student supervision, clinical instruction, oncology course teaching, and guest lecturing on a variety of topics, including inter-professional collaboration, international nursing, ethics, therapeutic communications and compassion fatigue. Her research interests include quality of care and care processes for persons experiencing a diagnosis of cancer and she is the author of numerous publications and invited presentations to a variety of audiences. Of particular note, Ms. McLean is a passionate volunteer whose generous gift of time and expertise has taken her to relief projects in Africa, Central America, and India, in addition to local contributions in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia with a particular emphasis on health and social justice issues. Currently, Ms. McLean is a successful consultant for individual and team development in topics such as conflict management, collaborative practice, addressing ethical issue in practice, and compassion fatigue.

Ms. McLean has been recognized with a number of professional awards in recognition for her contributions to nursing and to health care including: Women鈥檚 Wall of Honour, Mount Saint Vincent University (2015); Accreditation Canada 鈥Leading Practice Award鈥 (2010); Nurse Acknowledgement Award, Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (2010); Canadian Progress Club 鈥Woman of Excellence鈥 Award (2005) 黑料吃瓜网 School of Nursing 鈥Outstanding Alumni鈥 Award (2004) and Clinical Research 础飞补谤诲鈥, Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology/Jansen Ortho Inc. (1999).
