The Certificate in Emergency Health Services System Planning (CEHSP) enables managers to design an EHS system which meets the needs of any given community, integrating planning cycles with the unique traits of an EHS structure.Ìý Designed by and for EHS professionals and suitable for current managers as well as those considering career progression, the program also teaches participants to design efficient pre-hospital care systems through an emergency health need assessment.ÌýÌý

Curriculum

The one-year certificate features both academic and results-oriented curriculum.  Students accepted into the Certificate in Emergency Health Services System Planning (CEHSP) take the following half credit classes:

  • Fall Semester - Required Course - Healthcare Planning

  • Winter Semester - Required Course
    - Epidemiology for Managers

  • Summer Semester - Required Course
    - Emergency Medical Services System Design

Program Delivery

The Certificate in Emergency Health Services System Planning (CEHSP) is fully online and fully flexible, but with an instructor always on hand to help. The certificate is conducted through Dalhousie's e-Learning platform, Brightspace, a well-established suite of tools which allow you undertake reading, view recordings and complete work when you wish, whilst also participating in group discussion with your fellow participants.

Admission Requirements

You must meet the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø undergraduate admission requirements to be considered for this program. This certificate program does not typically accept people applying directly from high school. It is recommended that you have work or volunteer experience in the health services industry before applying for the program.

A complete application consists of the following documents:

  • A completed application form and fee
  • An official transcript of the record of academic work completed to date
  • One letter of reference (academic or professional)
  • Resume/curriculum vitae
  • TOEFL (international applications)

Application deadlines are:

  • March 1 for September start
  • November 15 for January start
  • March 15 for May start
