Description
The Vitamin Scholarship was established for activities related to vitamin products (including vitamins A, B1, B2 B3, B4, B5, B6 B8, B9, B12, C, E, H, beta carotene, canthazanthin, methionine, and products containing or derived from vitamins, including animals that consumed vitamins) such as food and nutritional research or education, food-related programs, and/or consumer services or consumer protection activities.
Thesis-based master’s and doctoral students with a first-class average who intend to pursue studies and research related to vitamins and vitamin-related products are eligible to be considered for this scholarship.
The Award must be taken up at the earliest eligible term within the first academic year of the program.  This limits eligibility to new students or students who have spent 8 months or less in-program as of the application deadline.
The award value for successful applicants with limited sources of additional funding may be increased at FGS’s discretion. Successful applicants will be notified of the actual amount at the time the award is communicated.
The Vitamin scholarship is subject to additional limitations when awarded to students who already hold other major awards managed by FGS (e.g. Tri-agency, NSGS, Scotia Scholar, etc..). Successful applicants who hold a major award managed by FGS are eligible for a one-time $2000 honorary award (above and beyond any other funding held).Â
Eligibility criteria
Canadian and international students are eligible to apply.
You must be enrolled in a thesis-based program with research related to vitamins and/or vitamin-related products. You must describe how your research is eligible for this award in plain language as part of your application.
- You have spent less than eight months in your program as of the competition date.
- If you hold other major funding managed by FGS, you may still apply. If successful, the award will be limited to a one-time $2000 honorary scholarship.t.
