As they were preparing to embark on their overseas adventures this summer, two ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøQES Scholars received yet another surprise. Jeremy Ryant and Elsa Tokunaga, who are among the first ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøstudents to undertake internship placements funded by QES, were invited to Ottawa to attend a gala dinner hosted by the Rideau Hall Foundation and the Governor General.

The May 11th dinner was an opportunity to recognize and celebrate key donors to the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships Program, and extend gratitude to those who contributed time and resources to make the program a reality. It was also an opportunity to extend special appreciation to the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien, former Prime Minister of Canada, and the significant role he played in assembling resources and support for the program.

Along with QES Scholars from across the country, Jeremy and Elsa met with Mr. Chrétien, as well as the Governor General, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston. The Scholars were then invited to engage in conversation with donors and special guests during an outdoor reception and dinner.

This event was made possible through the support of the Rideau Hall Foundation.
