Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity
The Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity, set to open at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 2025, is a first-of-its-kind interactive ocean and science discovery centre that will offer exceptional educational and research experiences for both the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøcommunity and beyond. Local students, Nova Scotia visitors and curious members of the public will be welcomed into the Beaty Centre to learn all about the innovative work being done by the Dal researchers dedicated to protecting our vital ocean resources.
The Beaty Centre is being developed thanks to the incredible generosity of an $8.2-million gift courtesy of entrepreneur and conservationist Mr. Ross Beaty and his family. Construction on The Beaty Centre began in summer 2024. The centre will be housed on the first and second floors of the Steele Ocean Sciences Building, the university’s hub of marine biology and marine biodiversity research. The Beaty Centre will be operated by Discovery Centre International in collaboration with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
The Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity was officially announced Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
